What I've Been Listening to

I’ve been listening to Kiefer since about sophomore year of college, and I just so happened to be going on a long bike ride the day this album dropped. I listened to it on my ride and several times since. It’s just a cozy, good-times album, featuring lots of talented indie jazz artists such as Nate Smith. If I had any gripe at all, it would be that one of the things I like most about Kiefer’s catalogue was that there aren’t many vocal tracks, which I enjoy for listening while working. That said, the vocal tunes on this album are quite well done, particularly Get to the Moon.

I don’t recall how I stumbled across this album. The artist describes it as part rock, part funk, part country; I would just call it “Modern Nashville.” The vocals remind me of a less-twang, more-soul version of Orville Peck. And the production on Moonflower really won me over.
